Olive oil in Greece is sacred:
a “divine gift”.
It is our history, nutrition, nourishment
and ritual.
It is the nutritious “gold” that kept the
Greek civilization flame alive, throughout
its long history: from the Ancient times,
through the Byzantine Empire and until now.
Its taste evokes childhood memories like
when we were dipping our grandmother’s
home-baked bread in the sweet Mediterranean
juices of a Greek salad.
In its most subtle hues, it keeps the color
of our grandfather’s olive grows, in which
we used to play and grow.
It is always new and always original like
the first time. It is pure and unchanged
despite, or rather because of, the passing
of time.
It is the holly container and nourishment of
the flame that keeps the memory of the
beloved ones lit.
For us Greeks, “oil” means always “olive
oil” and it is always present in a large
bottle holding a sacred place within our
kitchens.
Our grandmother’s smile
Our grandfather’s blessing
Our olive groves are located in the area of Pylia, that got its name from the ancient kingdom of Pylos, reign to the mythical king Nestor.
Pylia is an area within the greater region of Kalamata, where millions of olive trees flourish amongst more than six hundred villages set by the sea or on the hilltops.
A couple of drops of Greek extra virgin olive oil comes from the highest part of the area, in an altitude of four hundred to five hundred meters above the level of the sea, where the olive groves are consisted of the eldest and strongest trees.
The climate is typically Mediterranean with mild winters and warm summers. Every year, the water flows smoothly from the mountains to the plains, helping the roots of the trees to hold just the essential amount of humidity needed for the growth of the exquisite olive fruits.
Our 100% extra virgin Greek olive oil is extracted from small koroneiki cultivar – the olives that originate from Peloponnesus and flourish in the Pylian Groves.
The small asymmetric koroneiki olive is one of the best sources of olive oil in the world! With a strong and fresh aroma and a rich, robust and velvety flavor, the fruits are picked when they are still green and render the oil with a shiny gold color with slight green tinges that echo its beauty and vigor.
A couple of drops of Greek extra virgin olive oil is the pure extract of 100% small koroneiki olives with all the uncompromised richness and the quality of the original fruits, pure and unblended.
The harvest begins by the end of fall.
The finest fruits are handpicked one-by-one in the traditional way and transferred to the oil press in large felt sacks.
The fruits are then filtered and washed thoroughly before the pressing. By the use of cold pressing, that ensures that there
is no alteration to the natural properties of the fruit, the first golden-green, unripe, extra virgin olive oil is produced.
The oil press is where the first tasting takes place: right there, right after the first extraction. The selected oil is the perfect product that will be standardized
in quality packaging; sealing the freshness, the nutrient value with the antioxidant power and the exquisite taste; ensuring that every single drop of a couple of drops of Greek extra virgin olive oil will satisfy you with the magic of the first extract!
